Characteristics

- Seeding date: early spring, late summer
- Warm season bunch grass
- Revegetating acid mine spoil, ground cover for erodible sandy sites, food for wildlife
- Produces complete cover in 2 years
Advantages
- good tolerance to acid, low fertility soils
- excellent drought tolerance
Concerns
- very low palatability, not a source of ruminant forage
- poor shade tolerance
- not tolerant of poorly-drained soils
