Meadow foxtail (Alopecurus pratensis L.)

Characteristics
- Yield based on 3 harvests/season
- Seeding rate: 8-12 lbs pure live seed/acre
- Seeding date: early spring, late summer before August 15
- Usually sown in mixtures for pasture
- Can be used as a hay crop
- Very early spring growth
Advantages
- easy to establish
- good tolerance to poorly-drained soils
Concerns
- fluffy seed difficult to sow, should be coated
- lower yielding than other tall grasses
- low midsummer yield
