White clover (Trifolium repens L.) (Dutch White, Ladino)
Characteristics
- Yield based on 2 harvests/season
- Seeds/pound: 800,000 (White Dutch), 860,000 (Ladino)
- Seeding date: frost seed, early spring, or late summer before August 15
- Ladino is a large form of white clover
- Useful for pasture only, withstands continuous grazing
- Component of wildlife mixtures as feed for deer
Advantages
- excellent quality possible
- easy to establish
- good tolerance to wide pH range
- good tolerance to close grazing
Concerns
- generally does not persist after 2 growing seasons
- very low yielding
- low drought tolerance, winter hardiness
- can cause bloat
